1920s Fashion Compared To Now
Compare fashion in the 1920s to fashion today. What has remained the same? What has changed?

Even though times have changed, a lot of trends that started in the 1920s influenced fashion now a days. Men would wear suits on an every day basis, except for blue collar workers, sport players, young teen and college men (more casual, but still owned suits). The suits used to be ade of thick wool or wool tweed. Pants were made of wool based flannel, and were heavier than todays. The suit was snug and had a slim fit. Many had two sets of flap pockets. The colours were mostly browns, blues, greys, greens and not many vibrant colours. As now a days it is mostly the same but suits can come in plenty of colours. Men would also wear gloves as accessories which would usually be red or yellow. They were usually made of leather. Men now don't usually wear gloves unless it is winter/cold outside. Felt or top hats were also popular. Straw hats were worn in the summer. Fedoras also made of straw with a colourful band to match the suit. The most iconic show was the two tone lace up oxford.

Women would usually wear dresses that were lighter due to less material and new synthetic fibers which were often trimmed with fur. They were also brighter and shorter than ever. Most skirts rose to the knees, and only some were ankle length. Dropped waist skirts and dresses were also very popular. The 1920s influenced a lot of fashion trends that are in style now. For example the bob hair cut on women was first started and became very popular, Undergarments were also made of silk, and shoes were focused on the strap design. Bras now added shape instead of flattening.

Overall a lot of things have changed and remained the same, the 1920s influenced a lot of fashion trends that are still in place now. N.H.
